Upcoming Projects will shape the future of Hastings

The city has put together a chart of major public works and engineering-related construction projects that are scheduled in Hastings between 2025 and 2031. The timelines are subject to change and dependent on a number of factors.

Included in this list are:

  • Construction of three water treatment plants to remove PFAS from city drinking water.
Highway 61/Vermillion St. mobility and safety improvements from the River Bridge south to 36th Street.
  • Dakota County improvement projects along County Roads 42, 26 and 54.
  • Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) Sanitary Sewer Improvements to accommodate growth and ultimately send wastewater to a regional wastewater treatment facility.

These projects are generally led by other agencies but occur within the City of Hastings and therefore partnerships have been formed for successful delivery.

Additionally, the city will look to construct Well No. 9, address lead service line replacements, install a new high zone water tower, extend trunk sanitary sewer down General Sieben Dr., and continue the annual Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvement Program.
