All-Inclusive Gas Fireplace
All-Inclusive permits include Building, and Mechanical work. Any Electrical work will require a separate permit.
This handout is a compilation of some of the standard requirements based on the State Building Code and City Ordinance for projects of this type. This information packet does not contain all the specific codes for construction and should only be used as a guide. The permittee is responsible to meet all code requirements applicable to each project.

- Final inspection includes an inspection of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms throughout the home.
Typical Code Requirements for Gas Fireplaces
- All factory-built heating appliances, chimneys and terminations must be listed by an approved testing agency and installed in accordance with their listing requirements.
- Vented gas fireplaces (decorative appliances) shall be tested in accordance with ANSI Z21.50
- Gas fireplaces are to be installed to manufacturer’s specifications.
- If a gas fireplace is vented through a wall, exterior clearances shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
- If the framing enclosing a gas fireplace leaves the floor framing above exposed, the lid of he enclosed must be draft stopped with ½” drywall, OSB, or plywood.
