Food Truck License
Food trucks offer a fun and flexible way to bring diverse dining options to Hastings. To operate a mobile food unit (MFU) within City limits all vendors must comply with local licensing requirements, State health and fire codes.
License Requirements
To operate a food truck in Hastings, you must:

Submit an application, including:
- Mobile Food Unit License Application

Copy of valid license from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) or Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA)

Proof of general liability insurance
- Additional required documentation

Pay the applicable license fee

Comply with zoning rules and parking restrictions

Receive approval from the City Clerk’s Office
Operating Locations
Food trucks may operate in the following locations with proper approvals:

Private property (with owner’s written consent)

Designated public areas (with City permission or as part of a permitted event)

City parks (only during permitted events or with Parks and Recreation Director approval)
Operation in residential neighborhoods or on city streets is generally not permitted without special approval and additional licensing requirements.
Hours of Operation
Food trucks may typically operate between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., unless otherwise approved as part of a special event or City-sanctioned activity.
Safety and Compliance
Operators must comply with all local, county, and state regulations, including:

Noise control
Mobile Food Units shall be open to inspection during all open hours.
Licenses must be conspicuously displayed at all times.
