Public Safety Committee

The Public Safety Committee of the Hastings City Council provides oversight and guidance for the City’s Public Safety Services, including Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The Committee works to ensure that residents receive high-quality, responsive and professional public safety services.

The Police Chief and Fire & EMS Director report directly to the Committee, providing regular updates on department operations, staffing, response readiness and public safety initiatives.


Committee Responsibilities

  • Oversight of Police, Fire and EMS operations
  • Review of public safety policies, procedures and staffing needs
  • Input on emergency preparedness and response strategies
  • Support for public outreach and community policing initiatives
  • Evaluation of capital needs and departmental performance

Meeting Schedule

The Public Safety Committee meets as needed, based on current priorities and public safety planning. Meetings are open to the public but not televised.
