Planning Committee

The Planning Committee of the Hastings City Council plays a key role in guiding land use and development policy throughout the City. The Committee works with the Planning Commission, serving as a communication link and providing input on planning-related issues brought before the City Council.

The Community Development Director reports to the Committee and provides updates on zoning, development applications, comprehensive planning efforts and other initiatives related to community growth and land use.

Committee Responsibilities

• Review and guide the Comprehensive Plan and other long-term planning efforts
• Discuss policy updates related to growth, housing and redevelopment
• Ensure coordination between City staff, the Planning Commission and the City Council

Meeting Schedule

The Planning Committee meets as needed, depending on current development activity and planning priorities. Meetings are open to the public but not televised.
