Parks and Rec and Jt. Powers Committee

The Parks and Recreation Committee of the Hastings City Council provides oversight of the Parks and Recreation Department and offers strategic guidance for the planning, development and maintenance of the City’s parks, natural resources and recreational programs.

The Committee also ensures clear communication and alignment between the Parks and Recreation Commission’s recommendations and City Council priorities.

The Parks and Recreation Director reports to the Committee offering updates on department operations, programming, capital improvements and community engagement efforts.

Committee Responsibilities

• Oversight of the Parks and Recreation Department
• Guidance on park planning, development and maintenance
• Support and communication with the Parks and Recreation Commission
• Input on recreational programming, events and community use of park spaces
• Review of capital improvement projects related to parks and public spaces

Meeting Schedule

The Parks and Recreation Committee meets as needed, based on current projects and community initiatives. Meetings are open to the public but not televised.
