Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is a volunteer advisory board that works closely with the City Council to guide land use, development and zoning decisions in the City of Hastings. The Commission plays a key role in maintaining the character, function and long-term vision of the community through thoughtful review of development proposals and zoning matters.
Purpose and Responsibilities
The Planning Commission:
- Reviews and provides recommendations for residential subdivisions
- Evaluates commercial site plans for conformance with City codes and plans
- Reviews applications for special use permits and zoning changes
- Ensures developments align with the City’s Comprehensive Plan and land use goals
Commission Membership
- The Planning Commission consists of seven (7) appointed members
- Members serve varied terms to ensure continuity and fresh perspectives
- All members are residents of Hastings with an interest in shaping the future growth, development and quality of life within the community.
Meeting Information
The Planning Commission meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. City Council Chambers, Hastings City Hall – 101 4th Street East
