Parks and Recreation Commission
The Parks and Recreation Commission is compromised of volunteers appointed by the Hastings City Council. The Commission is made up of residents who are passionate about improving and maintaining the City’s parks, trails, open spaces and recreational opportunities.
The Parks and Recreation Commission plays a vital role in shaping the future of Hastings’ parks system by advising the City Council and supporting staff with community input, ideas and feedback.
Purpose & Responsibilities
The Parks and Recreation Commission:
- Advises the City Council on matters related to parks, trails, open space and recreation
- Acts as a community voice on recreational priorities, improvements and planning
- Provides input to City staff on park design, programming, events and long-range planning
- Supports the vision of an accessible, inclusive and sustainable parks and recreation system for all residents
Commission Membership
- The Parks and Recreation Commission consists of seven (7) appointed members
- Commissioners serve varied terms to ensure continuity and fresh perspectives
- Members may serve up to three consecutive terms
Meeting Information
The Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
