Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority (HEDRA)
The Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority (HEDRA) plays a key role in shaping the future growth and vitality of the City. HEDRA is responsible for guiding the development and implementation of the City's economic development and redevelopment strategies, with a focus on business support, job creation, property revitalization and long-term community investment.
Purpose & Responsibilities
- Promote economic growth and business retention/attraction
- Support redevelopment of underutilized or vacant properties
- Oversee financial incentive tools such as tax increment financing (TIF)
- Collaborate with developers, businesses and community partners
- Align projects with the City’s comprehensive and strategic plans
Commission Membership
- HEDRA is made up of seven appointed members:
- Five (5) citizen members
- Two (2) City councilmembers
- Members serve varied terms to ensure continuity and fresh perspectives
- All members are residents of Hastings with an interest in the City's economic development and redevelopment and long-term community investments.
Meeting Information
HEDRA meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.

Grant Opportunities
Facade Improvement Program
The purpose of the Façade Improvement Program (FIP) is to stimulate private sector investment in order to reduce blight, increase the overall tax base, and encourage investment, expansion, and rehabilitation of commercial and retail buildings within areas of the City that are experiencing a lack of investment.
This grant program is a matching grant which requires the applicant to provide $2.00 of private investment for every $1.00 of grant funding. The maximum of any singular grant award from this program will be $5,000.
Eligibility for the Facade Improvement Grant Program shall be limited to one (1) grant per calendar year.
