Public Works and Engineering

Public Works is located at the Cal Ruedy Public Works Building, at 1225 Progress Drive. Our office is open Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Below is a summary of our two teams in the Public Works Department, as well as how we can be reached:

Public Works Team

The Public Works team takes care of maintaining the city’s roads, water, and other important systems that we all use every day. This includes:

• Streets and road repairs
• Storm drains and ponds
• Streetlights and signs
• Water and wastewater systems
• The hydroelectric plant at Lock and Dam #2

Engineering Team

The Engineering team works on designing and managing construction projects, like fixing streets and upgrading utilities. They also:

• Review infrastructure plans for new buildings and developments
• Check construction sites for safety and erosion control
• Issue permits for any construction in street right of ways or easements
• Keep track of maps and records for the city's infrastructure
