Many residents convert their yard waste and food scraps to compost on their own property. Add food scraps like fruits and veggies to your backyard compost. Do not add meat, bones, fish, or dairy to backyard compost. These items attract rodents, spread bacteria, and cause plant diseases. Use the food scraps drop-off sites for these items instead.
Visit Dakota County's website to learn more about composting at home.
