ADA Planning
ADA Compliance in Hastings
We want our streets, sidewalks and public spaces to be safe and accessible for everyone- no matter what their ability.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that says people with disabilities must have equal access to public spaces. This includes sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks and other walkways in the public right of way.
Our Plan to Make Improvements
We looked at our streets, sidewalks and pedestrian ramps to see where changes are needed. Then, we created a plan to help make those areas more accessible over time.
This is called our ADA Transition Plan.
Our ADA Plan Includes:
- A review of our current sidewalks and ramps
- A map showing where improvements are needed
- A list of future road and sidewalk projects that will include ADA updates
- A timeline to help guide when improvements will happen

Future Projects
As we repair roads and sidewalks, we also upgrade curb ramps and crossings that don’t meet ADA standards. These upgrades are part of our:
- Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) ADA Transition Plan
- Dakota County Transportation Department ADA Transition Plan
