Dog Licensing

Hastings City Code 91.20 requires any owner or other possessor of a dog to obtain a city license for the dog, when the dog reaches the age of six (6) months.   

Please note: Your pet must be up to date with its rabies vaccination prior to applying for a license.

License Types

You have two options when purchasing your dog's license:

• You may purchase a two-year renewable license
  • The two-year license term is from August 1 - July 31st bi-annually (every odd year).
• Or, you may purchase a lifetime license for a one-time fee.
  • A lifetime license is issued for the life of the dog and has no expiration date. 

License fees

• $30.00 Lifetime License (spayed or neutered)
• $45.00 Lifetime License (non-spayed or non-neutered)
• $20.00 Two Year License (non-spayed or non-neutered)
• $15.00 Two Year License (spayed or neutered)

Apply

To apply for a dog license, submit a completed application, current rabies vaccination certificate, and payment by mail or in person at the Hastings Police Department located at 150 3rd St. E.  Hastings, MN  55033

Photo

To assist in identifying your pet should it be lost or found, we highly encourage pet owners to include a full body photo of their dog with their license application.

If your dog is already licensed, please feel free to email your pet's photo to Hastings Police Department.  Please include your name, along with your pet's name and license number for reference.
