Earth Day Birding Festival

• The birding festival is held annually in the month of April on a Saturday at Carpenter Nature Center.

Community Halloween Party

• The Community Halloween Party is held the Friday before Halloween at the Hastings High School. This event is free and open to the public, recommended for families with youth 12 and under. 
• The event includes more than 30 activity stations, DJ, games, costume contest and prizes! 

Ice Fishing Adventures

• Ice Fishing Adventures is held in January and February on a Saturday morning at Lake Rebecca Park. View the City Calendar to find more details or check our City of Hastings Facebook page. 
• This program is free and open to all ages. Poles, bait, tackle and instruction are provided from volunteers. 
• This event is in partnership with Carpenter Nature Center along with many volunteers to help make it happen.

Make Music Day is a worldwide celebration of music on June 21. In 2025, 147 U.S. cities organized over 5000 free concerts. Details to come for 2026. Learn more about Make Music.

 Paws in the Park

• Held the first Thursday in October, this annual event features a costume contest for pets at the Rivertown Dog Park in Hastings. 
• More than 15 dog-friendly booths and giveaways.
• Drawings and prize baskets.
• FREE Hot dog dinner and more!

Rec+Arts+Police

Recreation and Police staff visit different parks and offer a variety of activities, snacks and giveaways.

All ages are welcome. Activities are recommended for older elementary ages. 

The events are held June through August on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in various parks in Hastings.

The Rec + Art + Police series is sponsored by Country Financial and SC Toys.

The events are supported by the Hastings Lions Club, Hastings Family Service, Hastings Community Education and Hastings Prescott Arts Council.

Safety Camp

The City of Hastings Fire, Police, and Parks & Recreation Departments and Hastings Community Education offer Safety Camp in June each year.

For kids entering 3rd - 5th grade, this one-day camp will address a variety of topics including outdoor safety, water safety, fire safety, bike safety, self-defense and much more.

Participants will be teamed with local leaders from all the participating organizations while they go through a day of games, activities, and learning sessions.

$40.00 per day

Snowshoe Guided Hikes

• The Snowshoe Guided Hikes are held in January and February on a Saturday or Sunday at Jaycee Park. View the City Calendar in early Winter to find more details or check our social media pages. 
• These programs are free and recommended for adults or teens, or youth 5 and older. 
• Snowshoes are provided for free.
