Alarm Registration

Residents, businesses and building owners with a monitored alarm system must register their alarm system and renew their alarm permit annually in accordance with City Code Chapter 95.06, Alarm System Permit. Proper registration helps ensure that the Hastings Police Department can respond quickly and efficiently to alarms, reduces false alarms and keeps emergency resources available for real incidents. Staying current with your alarm permit also ensures compliance with city regulations and helps support overall community safety.

Unregistered Alarms

Alarm system users more than sixty (60) days delinquent in renewing an existing alarm registration permit, and alarm system users more than ninety (90) days delinquent in obtaining a new alarm registration permit will be charged a $25.00 Unregistered Alarm Late Fee per each false alarm call.

Alarm system users who are more than 60 (sixty) days late renewing an existing permit, or more than 90 (ninety) days late obtaining a new permit, will be charged a $25 late fee for each false alarm call.

Timely registration helps the Hastings Police Department respond efficiently to emergencies and reduces unnecessary dispatches. Keeping your alarm permit current ensures compliance with City Code Chapter 95.06 and helps avoid additional fees, while supporting public safety and effective police operations.

False Alarm Fee Assessment

The Hastings Police Department will send a courtesy notification each time officers respond to a false alarm. In addition to any Unregistered Alarm Late Fee, alarm system users may be assessed False Alarm Fees for repeated false alarms. These fees are designed to encourage proper use and maintenance of alarm systems, reduce unnecessary emergency responses and ensure that police resources are available for real emergencies. Keeping your alarm system properly registered and maintained not only helps you avoid fees but also supports the safety and well-being of the entire Hastings community.
