Hastings Fire Department

The Hastings Fire Department provides comprehensive Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). We protect the communities of Hastings, Vermillion and all surrounding Townships.

Our services are powered by a highly trained, hybrid team of dedicated full-time career personnel and committed paid-on-call professionals.

The Hastings Fire Department is staffed by a team of full-time firefighter/paramedics, shift captains and paid-on-call firefighter/EMTs who handle emergency response operations. Department administration and prevention team includes a Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector and an Office Manager who oversee management, fire prevention and community safety programs.

We are dedicated to the preservation of life, property and safety, providing efficient, high-quality response in the following areas:

• Fire & Rescue: Fire suppression, technical rescues and response to hazardous material incidents, natural disasters and man-made emergencies.
• Emergency Medical Services (EMS): We staff and operate both Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances, utilizing certified Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
• Fire Prevention & Safety: Our team promotes safety through education and enforcement. We provide fire safety programs to schools, businesses, civic groups and residents. We also work closely with City Planning, Public Works and Building Departments to ensure Code compliance and assist in maintaining a safer community.
