Electric Bikes
Electric bicycles can be an enjoyable way to get around town and to see the natural beauty of Hastings on miles of trails. Rules for Safe Riding
- State statute requires e-bike riders to be 15 years of age or older.
- You must follow the same traffic laws as bicyclists.
- You may ride electric bikes on city streets, in bike lanes, and on city trails unless signs prohibit.
- You should ride as close as safely possible to the right-hand side of the road.
- Riding on sidewalks is not allowed.
- Max speed on city trails and in parks is 15 mph. On city streets, follow city speed limits.
- It is illegal to ride with more than one person on an electric bike.
- Always yield to pedestrians.
- Night riding requires proper lighting on the bike.
