On March 16, the Hastings City Council appointed Hastings Commander Kyle Linscheid Police Chief for the City of Hastings. He will succeed Chief David Wilske, who will retire at the end of the month. The Council also proclaimed March 31, 2026 as David D. Wilske Day in the City of Hastings.
City Administrator Dan Wietecha recommends Kyle Linscheid be appointed Hastings Police Chief at the March 16 City Council meeting. Linscheid will succeed Police Chief David Wilske, who will retire at the end of this month.
The City of Hastings and Hastings Police Department have issued a statement on immigration and community safety.
