How to Join a Board or Commission

Various advisory boards and commissions serve the City of Hastings to provide recommendations to the City Council.

About the Boards and Commissions

Advisory boards and commissions exercise all duties assigned by the City Code. They generally study issues in depth, making recommendations to the City Council, but do not make final decisions on behalf of the City. Advisory boards and commissions are subject to the same laws as the City Council under the Minnesota Open Meeting Law.

Each advisory board or commission consists of seven members, except the Heritage Preservation Commission, which consists of nine members. All members must be residents of the City.

No board or commission member other than a member of the Heritage Preservation Commission shall be appointed to more than 3 full consecutive terms. Heritage Preservation Commission members may be appointed to an unlimited number of terms.

To learn more about each City commission, please visit their respective pages.

If you are interested in serving on a City board or commission, please complete and submit an interest form. Interest forms will remain open in 2025 until vacancies have been filled.
