The City of Hastings has over 105 miles of city streets and 12 bridges that are maintained by the City’s Public Works Maintenance & Operations Division. The division consists of 16 employees; PW Superintendent, PW Maintenance Supervisor, 12 operators, an Electrician and an Administrative Assistant. Maintenance performed includes: street sweeping, snow removal, pothole patching, street signage, tree trimming in right of ways, storm sewer maintenance, street lighting, pavement markings.


The City of Hastings Utilities systems include Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, and Hydro-electric, all maintained by the City’s Public Works Operations & Maintenance Division.  The City maintains more than 90 miles of watermain, 80 miles of sanitary sewer, six wells, three water towers, one water treatment plant, 1,300 fire hydrants, eight sanitary sewer lift stations, approximately 7,300 utility services accounts, and a 4 Megawatt hydro-electric plant located at Lock & Dam No. 2.
