Electric bicycles can be an enjoyable way to get around town and to see the natural beauty of Hastings on miles of trails. E-bike riders must be 15 years old or older to operate an e-bike in Hastings.

How to Ride an Electric Bike in Hastings?
- State statute requires e-bike riders to be 15 years of age or older. Port of Hastings Outfitters requires e-bike enters to be 16 years of age
- You must follow the same traffic laws as bicyclists
- You may ride electric bikes on city streets, in bike lanes, and on city trails unless signs prohibit
- You should ride as close as safely possible to the right-hand side of the road
- Riding on sidewalks is not allowed
- Max speed on city trails and in parks is 15 mph. On city streets, follow city speed limits.
- It is illegal to ride with more than one person on an electric bike
- Always yield to pedestrians
- Night riding requires proper lighting on the bike (see the e-bike flyer)
How to Park Electric Bikes in Hastings?
Sidewalk parking shall be limited to areas outside the pedestrian path of travel.
Electric bikes must not be parked in any location or manner that will impede normal and reasonable pedestrian traffic or access to:
- Pedestrian ramps
- Building/property entrances
- Driveways
- Loading zones
- Disability parking and transfer zones
- Transit stops
- Crosswalks
- Parklets
- Street/sidewalk cafes
- Other street furnishings (benches, parking meters, etc.)
- Underground utility, sewer, or water facilities
- Electric bikes shall not be parked in the street, or in a manner that obstructs the sightlines of any intersection, or in any place where they could pose a safety hazard.

Electric bikes are available for rent to use on City trails.
Port of Hastings Outfitters provides electric bikes for public use in the City of Hastings.
**The City of Hastings Government does not operate or rent electric bikes.
How to Rent an Electric Bike?
1. Reserve your e-bike by clicking Book Your Bike! and follow the checkout process. Or visit the FAQs page for more information.
2. Port of Hastings Outfitters will contact you to confirm the rental and provide any requested information.
3. Meet the staff member at the rental location 20 minutes before your appointment.
We’ll give you an introduction to your bike including how to use, sightseeing tips, and a safety brief.
4. Enjoy your ride!
When you’re finished, simply return your e-bike to the same location.
