Protection of Private Property & Volunteering

The City worked with local church leaders and hundreds of volunteers to make 11,000 sandbags on Saturday, March 23rd.  These are being held in reserve in the event that the flood forecast worsens and homeowners in flood-prone areas of the City request a barrier to be constructed for structural flooding protection. All residents in need of help must formally request sandbagging before they are built.

In the event a barrier is requested, the City will work once again with volunteer organizers to recruit a team for barrier construction and post instructions on the City's website for registration to join the team.
