Hastings abounds with opportunities. Some opportunities are obvious, such as a shovel-ready 50-acre site owned by the City in our Business Park. Other opportunities may not be as apparent - redeveloping property along Vermillion Street, for example. Regardless of the complexity of the opportunity, we are ready to help you make it happen.
Do you need a large parcel for your project? This is it. You will not find another parcel with these characteristics:
- Owned by the City of Hastings
- Zoned industrial (I-1)
- South parcel platted with full municipal utilities
- North unplatted and no storm sewer infrastructure
- Xcel Energy Certified Site
- Eligible for City’s “Land for a Dollar” program
In addition to the 50-acre site, the City of Hastings owns 11 ready to develop parcels in the Hastings Business Park (see Business Park map). The parcels range in size from 1.0 to 3.1 acres. All parcels are zoned industrial (I-1) and served by municipal utilities. The parcels are eligible for City’s "Land for a Dollar” program.
The Vermillion Street Corridor is a redevelopment focus for the City. This 3-mile segment of U.S. Highway 61 runs from the Mississippi River Bridge to the south city limits. The Corridor is a regional transportation route with between 25,000 and 30,000 trips per day.
In 2018, the City adopted the Vermillion Street Corridor Study as a plan for the economic redevelopment and revitalization of Vermillion Street. The Vermillion Street Corridor Study provides recommendations to improve each of the different functional areas of the Corridor, by identifying improvement recommendations and development opportunities and characteristics. The City will partner with property owners and developers to redevelop and revitalize property in the Corridor.
