Linn Companies, owner of Holiday Gas Station on the corner of Highway 61 and 15th Street, sought to redevelop a property located directly across the street. The property was formerly a small gas station and required substantial demolition and site preparation costs. The Hastings Economic Development and Redevelopment Authority (HEDRA) used tax increment financing to help offset these additional redevelopment costs. HEDRA issued a $245,000 TIF note to assist with the cleanup and site preparation costs. Issuance of the TIF note allowed Linn Companies to construct a NAPA Auto Parts store on the site. The new 8,500 square foot building rejuvenated a once blighted property while increasing the vitality of the commercial corridor.
