All Call for Promo Video Shoot

Help us win a new basketball court from the Minnesota Timberwolves! Grab some friends, bring a basketball and meet us at Pioneer Park THIS Tuesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. to help us film promo videos. We will use them to remind people to VOTE for HASTINGS during the contest next week. All ages and skill levels are welcome! Bring friends, bring your mom, bring your grandpa, bring the guy down the block - we want everyone there to help us win!

Voting Begins May 14th!

The City of Hastings has been chosen as one of three finalists in the Southern region of Minnesota to participate in the Minnesota Timberwolves ‘Our Courts, Our Future’ program. This summer, the Minnesota Timberwolves FastBreak Foundation will travel across the state of Minnesota refurbishing four courts chosen by popular vote.

The Parks & Rec Department, along with local basketball program managers, are asking for the community’s help to win by voting online Monday, May 14th through Sunday, May 20th. Individuals will be allowed to cast one vote per day at www.timberwolves.com/ourcourts. An online campaign to encourage voting is planned.

Phil Vargas, Sports and Recreation Coordinator for the City, nominated Pioneer Park for the contest. “The basketball courts at Pioneer Park are some of the most popular courts in our community and they are showing major wear and tear on the playing surface,” noted Vargas. “Many of the local basketball groups are excited about the possibility of getting a new court and bringing renewed enthusiasm for outdoor basketball here in Hastings.”

Winners will be announced on the Timberwolves Facebook page on Thursday, May 24th at 4 p.m. If Hastings is selected, the courts would be refurbished over the summer of 2018.
